In THIN, Green field present a decade long exploration of the body image, and its relevance in today’s world, where how one looks become a primary expression of a girl’s identity.At first, it’s hard to know who to identify with in Thin, filmed over six months at the Renfrew Center, a residential facility devoted to treating eating disorders in southern Florida. The film documents the therapy sessions, mealtime, the highly structured routine of inpatients’ daily lives, alongside the complex and troubling interpersonal relationships with each other, with family and with staff. The film is shot in the center with the director staying with the inmates of the house for six months, getting unrestricted access to film the all the aspects and experiences of a patient’s life.
